Description: This Cromwell Hand Wrought Aluminum Silent Butler has a unique rectangular shape and a riveted long handle. It also has a riveted curved lever used to flip open the attached lid that features an ornate embossed floral and fruit design in the center. The bottom portion of the silent butler features a scalloped edging along all sides. The dimensions of the silent butler are 9” long, 7” wide, and 1 1/2” deep. It is 12” wide with the handle. The exact age of this silent butler is not known but this particular style was used quite often from the 1930’s to the 1950’s. They were used to clean up crumbs and cigarette butts during dinner parties and entertaining. The silent butler is in very good antique vintage condition with only expected markings to the aged aluminum. There are no deep scratches, cracks or holes anywhere on the piece.
