Vintage Chronograph - Venus 170 *** Gilt Dial ***

Description: This vintage Ilona wristwatch boasts a captivating gilt dial with Arabic numeral indices, set against a striking black background. For those unfamiliar, gilt dials are crafted through a reverse-etching process, allowing the brass dial plate to shine through as the numerals, measurement scales, and markers. This technique creates a truly distinctive look, especially under varying lighting conditions. The radium lume remains intact, further enhancing the watch's vintage charm. Housed in a robust 34mm stainless steel case, this watch was originally designed with water resistance in mind. It features pump pushers and a screw-down 'sei tacche' (six-notch) case back, reflecting the high build quality of this era. However, as with many vintage watches, I do not recommend exposing it to water these days! The watch is powered by a clean-looking Venus 170 movement, with "antimagnétique" tastefully engraved on the bridge. The movement is well-finished and currently in running condition. It keeps time, and the chronograph function is fully operational at the time of sale (see video). Please note, no guarantee is offered on timekeeping due to the unknown service history, but I haven't noticed any issues.
