Description: Vintage 1910s Van Vreelan Art Print "DUTCH FLOWER MARKET" Amsterdam City/Amstel River Scape Scene Original Gilt Frame & Glass 33.75" long x 17.75" high frame, frame is a generous 2.25" wide and is gorgeous and heavy inset molded wood with a mottled bronzed/ antiqued gold finishExcellent vintage condition, genuine 1910s, not a repro. High quality art print of a scene of a Dutch flower market in Amsterdam along the Amstel river, with buyers, sellers, boats, landscape of city in background, wonderfully painted buildings, and lots and lots of Dutch flowers in baskets. Stunning. The artist's technique is very soft and dreamy, but there are gorgeous minute details and depth that make the viewer feel as if they are transported back in time right into the picture.About the artist: Francis William Van Vreeland (1879-1954), first worked as a decorator at the Rookwood Pottery Company. He studied art at the Cincinnati Art Academy, and in Paris at Academie Julian. He exhibited at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1900, and The Paris Salon in 1911. Returning to the US he studied at the Cincinnati Academy of Fine Art, and at the Art Students League in New York City. Vreeland moved to Hollywood, California in the 1920sVery beautiful frame. Textured grooved lines and recesses which are deliberately antiqued in a much darker shade of gold/ bronze gilt. NO DAMAGE to print, frame or glass. No scratches or cloudiness to glass. Frame has some slight rubs here and there on the surface at edges, but extremely minor and not down to bare wood....just adds to the charm. Back has original brown paper backing which has one tear in paper near the top. Has its original Art Gallery framing label, written in pen and ink, from Indianapolis Indiana. Secure wire hanger attached across back, ready to hang. No fading or buckling to print. See all pics and use zoom.Highly collectible. In amazing shape for age. Will look beautiful hung on any wall. This art piece was purchased at an Estate sale of an elderly lady that was of Dutch descent and she had this in a very special place in her home, out of sunlight, it was a family piece. Ships fully insured and packed with great care to make sure it arrives in tip top condition. This piece is EXTREMELY HEAVY [ well over 1" thick solid hardwood] which is reflected in shipping.* Please check my Store under Vintage Art for many more vintage and antique art prints and paintings, of all eras and styles, I am listing my large collection *Please note- I do not mark items down with the passage of time, when they are gone, they are gone! Please note the following, dear fellow shopping enthusiasts: I strive to give you the best service possible. I am not a dealer or professional, just a lifelong collector and enthusiast. I only list items that I think are unique and of good quality. I represent my items as accurately and clearly as I can, and believe it is always better for you to have too much information than not enough! Please ask any questions before bidding, I will happily respond. Remember, these are vintage items and will have reasonable signs of age and wear which only adds to their personality, appeal and "funky vintage-ness". They are not in their original boxes unless noted. I do not excessively clean items or remove age patina, as I want to leave that option for the buyer. I will promptly ship your item within 2 business days and post great positive feedback for you once payment is received. Go Green! I try to re-use clean, almost-new shipping boxes when possible. I will gladly combine shipping on multiple items for you. Thank you for looking
