Description: For sale is a vintage Blessed Martin de Porres 3rd class touch relic card/bookmark.The paper measures approx. 1 1/4" wide by 3 1/2" high and the tiny cloth relic was laid on thecasket containing the head of Blessed Martin. Blessed Martin was canonized asaint in 1962, and this item is when he was Blessed, so this item dates before 1962. This item is vintage and has a lot of age and wear including bends, wrinkling,andstains/discoloration on the paper. The paper is very beat up. First and 2nd class relics are rare, are considered sacred, and are usually found in churches. First class relics are actually from the body of the saint like a strand of hair.Second class relics are something the saint owned like a Bible or a piece of clothing. 3rd class are just "touch" relics. They are pieces of cloth that have been touched to a1st or 2nd class relic and then cut up into tiny pieces and put into medals, holders, etc... It may have been a piece of cloth that was touched to the saint, touched their tomb, or touched to anything they owned or wore. I only sell 3rd class relics which I have bought over the years at various sales, and for themost part, I have no history of the items.
