Description: FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION: ELEGANT VINTAGE ARNOLD #2543 N-SCALE DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN BR 18 536 PACIFIC OUTLINE STEAM LOCOMOTIVE; EP : II WITH FACTORY SEUTHE SMOKE GENERATOR; IN LIKE NEW++/MINT CONDITION IN ITS OEM JEWEL CASE COMPLETE WITH PAPER LINER, MOLDED CRADLE, INSTRUCTIONS, AND SMOKESTACK DECALS. THE JEWEL CASE IS IN LIKE NEW CONDITION WITH CORRECT UPC BAR CODE STICKER ON BOTTOM. For those not familiar with Arnold second generation S3/6 (BR 18's), it was the "Super Model"; circa 1991/92 - 2002. In addition to its inherent beauty, the model featured extensive use of metal, an innovative current pickup, and a clever drive mechanism. The model also featured Arnold's (Seuthe) smoke generator. Some operators love the smoke unit while others feel it's just a gimmick. However, without a doubt, the BR 18 is regarded as one of Arnold's all-time master pieces. While in unused LN++/ Mint condition, I felt obligated to give this unit a short track test to ensure perfect operation of drive mechsnism and factory illumination; the smoke generator was not tested. Just another superb example of German engineering. Loco demonstrated smooth operation through the full throttle range in both directions; a bit less so in forward at lower speeds. Operational ditch lighting in front and rear and Rapido couplers. Paint and graphics are superb! As this loco only has a tiny test run and has been in storage for years, before putting this jewel into regular service, a light lubrication to drive gears is recommended.
