My research indicates it is likely made of nickel-plated brass. Although I do not know that for sure. There are six tone finger holes on the top side and one vent hole on the bottom. There is also a place for a Lyre Holder. The Lyre Holder is marked AP&M Co and I am including with the Saxette. It may or may not have had a mouthpiece. My research is unclear about this. However, there is no mouthpiece with this Saxette. Above the maker mark, AP&M Co., it reads “PAT. APL’D. FOR” The patent was applied for in 1937 and granted in 1939.From my research: Established in 1902, American Plating and Manufacturing (APM) is a world-class manufacturer of accessories for Woodwind and Brass instruments.This Saxette was found with other simple music instruments in my Grandmother’s Ohio farmhouse, where she taught music to many children over the years.
