Description: This trio of vintage, Hot Wheels Splittin' Images (part of the 1969 Hot Wheels Lineup, though manufactured in 1968) was designed by Ira Gilford. The Splittin' Image was one of the first concept cars that sprung from the ingenious imagination of Mattel designer Ira Gilford (it was quite the departure, with twin cockpits flanking a single supercharged engine.) Besides being issued in a blister pack and in sets, the car was included in a rare 4-car "Show Team" boxed set along, with three other Ira Gilford cars (the Torero and its more famous cousin the Twinmill, and the Silhouette). Because of its highly original look, it is well remembered by kids that grew up in the Redline era. Production of thecar continued until '71 (and it was only manufactured in the U.S.) Black interiors pair with clear windows on the orange cars, while the aqua car has a white interior with a clear window. These cars have been carefully stored away in a climate controlled, smoke-free environment since the early '70s - a relative's death revealed a stash of toys to entertain visiting grandchildren - the cars were only played with when the grandkids visited. I welcome any inquiries (and I am now shipping WORLDWIDE!)
