Vintage IDEAL Mortimer Snerd Composition Flexy Doll Original Outfit w/Stand Nice

Description: Welcome to my ebay store This is the Infamous Mortimer Snerd character doll by Ideal. Circa late 1920s early 1930s. He stands 12". Has a composition head with sculpted hair and painted facial features with goofy smile and elongated nose, wooden segmented body, flexible limbs, over-sized wooden feet,composition hands. He is wearing brown felt jacket, tweed pants,shirt and long tie. Clothes are in great shape. He is Marked "Ideal Doll Made in USA". Mortimer Mortimer Snerd was a creation of Edgar Bergen,and appeared alongside his companion Charlie McCarthy on stage and in at least one film.He stands 12" tall and is a Flexi doll, his arms and legs are made of a flexible woven wire material. He is dressed in his signature brown jacket and tan slacks. Has that signature overbite and long nose and two 'buck' teeth. Great facial coloring. Hands in overall nice condition, ditto his shoes. Expected minor wear as expected to these dolls. His head/lower mouth has some professional restoration to prevent cracks from worsening and from losing more paint, extremely subtle well done work as you can see on head only. The touch up is subtle and perfectly color matched. This is the problem with early composition dolls, they expand and contract with humidity and the paint cracks, lifts and flakes off until you have a doll with no color left! He displays wonderfully even with the subtle repair. Along with Baby Snooks, this was my favorite old time character from the days of Radio and B/W television. See all photos.
