Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a high quality Electro Voice RE-10 model cardioid dynamic microphone made in the 1990 in Buchanan, Michigan. It comes with the E.V 310 model clip, data sheet and box shown in which to store everything. It should be noted right away that this is the nicest example you could possibly ask for. It's in mint condition and works like new. I have never seen one this nice before and I have 3 matching examples. The other two will be listed shortly. I honestly don't think this mic was ever used before. It's just that nice. If you demand the finest RE-10 for use then this will certainly do. Pic # 2 shows the mics characteristics from an old E.V advertisement. The RE-10 model was identical to the RE-11 & RE-15 models except for two subtle differences. The RE-10, RE-11 & RE-15 had different front screens. The RE-11 had the largest and was ideal for situations where you needed more protection against "pops" from speaking or singing. The RE-15 had the best frequency response but to the simple ear all 3 sounded the same. You would generally need sophisticated sound equipment to see the difference as they all utilized the same low impedance element. Pic # 3 shows a young Stevie Nicks using the RE-10 while recording in a studio. The RE-10 is one of the finer dynamic cardioid mics made during the 1970's - 1990's and still very sought after even today for it's excellent sound characteristics. Lite weight and built like a tank. These mics rarely ever fail and have good, strong output. The RE-10 came with the bass drop off switch (as seen in pic # 14) giving it's user more control over the tone of the mic without needing an E.Q. This microphone has been thoroughly cleaned and tested though there was very little cleaning needed. The signal strength is 100% and sounds excellent...set at 150 OHMS which is more Medium Impedance. It has a warm, rich tone on the lower Z setting and is excellent for broadcasting and singing. It has a higher impedance sound on it's high setting. A superb microphone all around. Easy to hold and superb uni-directional characteristics. The chrome mesh screen is very nice too with zero tarnish, odors or deformation. Mic has a new inner foam pop filter to help with sound characteristics. The original foam pop filter was dry and crumbling apart. It needed to be replaced. This helps cut down on unwanted "pops" from breathing to close or windy conditions. The XLR pins on this mic have been cleaned as they were becoming tarnished from age ensuring a perfect signal with zero distortion once the cable is attached. The pastel green paint on the handle has virtually no wear. Zero scuff marks or paint loss. It's free of any dents or fractures. The E.V label is completely legible and looks excellent. Again, a 1990 model. The mic takes a standard XLR cable which is not included. The RE-10 does come with the E.V 311 model mic clip that is in perfect condition and works great for this microphone giving the user a wide degree of tilt up and down as needed. The clip grips the mic firmly and will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have as well. It shows no cosmetic wear. The original data sheet is included and has tons of technical info on this mic that will really come in handy. The original RE-10 box is included and will do a great job of protecting the mic when not in use. As you can see there is just very lite cosmetic wear. It has a new inner foam pad to take up some of the excess space and there is plenty of room inside for a cable. A nice accessory to have for resale purposes as well. Overall this piece is physically a true 9 +++ on a scale of 1 - 10. This RE-10 will certainly get the job done. These just keep going up in value as well and this one for sure will fetch top dollar if you ever grow tired of it. Properly taken care of this mic should outlive yourself. Testament to the high quality build of these classic American made mics.
