Description: CHARMING VINTAGE ANIMAL PRINT/ILLUSTRATION Artist: Oliver Herford (A British born American artist, writer and illustrator who has been called "The American Oscar Wilde" see below for some quotes) Title: THE ANTEATER Published in 1901 by Charles Scribner's Sons, "More Animals" Printing: Lithographically produced from an original linocut, and printed on heavy stock paper. Print measurement: 5 7/8 x 5 7/8" square. Page size: 8 x 8 inches square (approximately) Description: The plate has a separate title page (with a line illustration by the artist) and on backside (verso) is a rhyming couplet verse accompanying the print [Note: "S.P.C.A." = Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals]. The lithographed plate itself is blank on the verso. Condition: Print is in very nice condition; verse page has short tear at bottom. Framing: The print would frame nicely for a child's room or for general home or office interior design (with or without matting). The printed verse may be framed as well to accompany the illustration, or may be placed in the back of the frame for reference. The second image with this listing shows the print in a "frame" for added perspective. Shipping: Stored in a clear sleeve, ships flat in an extra stiffened envelope with "do not bend" stamping.
