I skimmed the book and he goes to Vietnam in September 1967, just before the TET Offensive He is assigned to the 9th division that served in the Mekong Delta. He only gives the 9th division and his 'Charlie' company as his unit I did not see any other info. The soldier becomes a sergeant and paints a very realistic view of a life of a rifleman in the war.
