Description: The Piccolette is best-known as a strut-folding camera for eight 4×6.5 cm exposures on 127 film, made from 1919 by Contessa-Nettel in Stuttgart, and continued by Zeiss-Ikon after the merger in 1926 in which Contessa-Nettel joined to form Zeiss Ikon. Production seems to have eased in 1930 or 1931. The total production is unclear. The production of the camera was continued after the merger and offered as model 545/12. Examples exist that continue to carry the Contessa-Nettel logo in the top left corner of the front standard, but add the 'Zeiss Ikon' logo underneath 'Piccolette.' This camera is one of these rare versions. At one point the Contessa-Nettel logo was replaced with the Zeiss Ikon logo. Some versions carry the catalogue number 545/12 below the word 'Piccolette.' This camera is in excellent condition overall, with some very slight paint loss on the edges of the body. There are no scratches, dents or blemishes. The fact that it has been kept in it's original leather case all these years obviously contributes to the fine condition. The shutter is snappy and it would appear that shutter speeds are OK, but we can obviously not guarantee accuracy. The Novar-Anastigmat 75mm lens is clear and free from haze, scratches and fungus. There is virtually no dust in the lens. Aperture movement is silky smooth and fully functional. The bellows have been checked and they are still light tight. With the correct film, this camera would still produce pictures as it should. Comes with it's original leather case, in excellent condition. One seldom finds them in this condition, so do not miss this one! Shipped with tracked international service. Please note: All our items are vintage and used unless otherwise stated.
