Description: For sale is Venus vintage chronograph powered by the legendary Venus 188. A very wearable 36mm case, gold plated, and a grey/beige dial with applied Arabic numerals and tachymeter scale. This is a classic watch made by one of the most reputable movement makers of the 1940-60s, in very decent shape considering its age and all original. The Venus 188 was produced from 1948 to 1966, so this watch may be anywhere from that period. Comes with a brand new strap sized at 120/73mm. It should fit wrists of up to 19cm (7.5") circumference. Printing is sharp and the applied numerals are clean. Acrylic crystal was recently changed to a new one during service. Hands show plenty of discoloration. A new set of matching hands for a Venus 188 shouldn't be too expensive if you'll ever decide to replace them. The gold plated case is decent considering the age. It has minimal light scratches from age. Wear on the gold plating is also minimal, mostly in the extremities when looking up close. In the hand they're practically unnoticeable. Case back has some corrosion marks on one side. The original finish is there with the Venus logo and writings sharp and intact. The crown is also original with the Venus logo. The movement is showing signs of wear and superficial corrosion, but it was serviced recently and is performing great. Chronograph starts and stops correctly, and both the seconds and minute counters work well. Winding and time setting is smooth. Timegrapher results show that it's losing 3-10 seconds, or gaining 10 seconds per day depending on position, with a good amplitude and relatively low beat error. Washing your hands while wearing the watch or exposure to light rain are fine as long as you're careful and aware that it's a vintage watch.
