Each culture has their own word or name for the vampiric beings of their land. Each vampire being also differs in appearance and capabilities depending on the culture they come from. Below we’ve listed only a handful of the vampiric beings throughout the world: Eastern Europe – the Volkodlak, Vulkodlac, Vukodlak, or Kudlak. A mix between a Werewolf and Vampire being. There are two phases of a Volkodlak: in the first phase, they are werewolf-like and can transform into a wolf or canine at night to hunt. Unlike the more popular Werewolves of Western Europe, the Volkodlak can transform at will. In the second phase they are Vampire-like and have the ability to transform into a wolf or canine as and when they please. The name Vlkodlaks comes from the word ‘vlko’ meaning wolf. Suriname - the Azeman. Originated in and around the country of Suriname, but are now pretty common throughout all of South America. The Azeman is a type of living vampire who is almost always described as being a woman. In the day they are able to walk around and are indistinguishable from other humans, although they do have this ability, many of them chose not to use it and chose to remain hidden in the shadows. However, once night falls, they are able to shape shift into other animal forms, most commonly transforming themselves into a bat. China - Chiang Shih, Kiang-shi, Chiang-shi, Ch'iang-shih, Ch'ing-shih, Kuang-shii, Giang shi, or Xianh-shi. The Chiang Shih have long nails curved like claws, long teeth, and glowing red eyes. Their bodies are covered in greenish-white hair. They possess the ability to fly and they become even more powerful in the moonlight. They live in the many temples found throughout China. Japan – Gaki. Most Gaki are pale skinned with hollow features in their human form, however, they can also assume the form of many different animals. Some of the older Gaki possess the power of invisibility. As we mentioned, each vampiric being offers their own form of magick and abilities but most Vampire abilities and powers include: Protection Passing on of universal and positive energy used for healing. Most vampires can also be classed as somewhat of sexual beings. They are able to help increase their keeper’s sex drive, sexual energy and libido, and when desired, may even perform sexual acts for their keeper. Vampires rarely take on a physical form; they possess the power of invisibility and choose to remain invisible most of the time.
