Description: QUITE A STORY IN THESE ROCKS!This is USGS Bulletin 1251-F, “Geology of the Ohio Quadrangle, southwestern Part of the Adirondack Mountains, New York”. Published in 1968, this is a scarce item I had not run across in years of this business. This 46-page book is in great condition and comes complete with the original full-color map of the geology, which is a 15-minute quadrangle map covering about 217 square miles, most of which is in the Adirondack state park. The Black river crosses the NW corner of the map, and the towns of Norway and Ohio are toward the bottom left. Jerseyfield Lake is along the east edge. The area is centered about 30 miles NE of Utica. This report covers all the different major rock types and formations in this beautiful area, which includes various highly metamorphosed gneisses, schists, and igneous rocks typical of the region. In addition some late diabase dikes are known in the area. Small lakes dot the region. This map is really nice and would look good framed and hung in a home or business in the area, or just kept for study and enjoyment. A scarce item I was unaware of even after years of dealing in these things. Expert packing assured. The recent increase in postage rates was pretty big.
