Description: I bought this bike on EBay in 2018 from a seller in Munich, Germany. The bike is fast for sprints! Not the lightest bike, but very solid and grounded on the road like no other bike I’ve owned. A mix of old and newer components and not built as a typical vintage set-up if you’re looking for that. I am 6-2 and the bike fits like a glove. Just getting older with my low back not as good as it was in the past, and I am doing more mountain biking. Well taken care of bike. The powder coated paint job is really cool and durable. The bike does have some scuffs and marks, but looks great overall. The black powder coated paint has a look and a sheen like no other. Here is some of the history of the frame I was given from the seller. -The name of the guy who made the frame is Roland Wenz. He worked for TEXTIMA in Chemnitz, the former Karl-Marx-Stadt, the famous workshop where the GDRs National Team road and track bike frames were built. In the early 90s after the end of the GDR and TEXTIMA, he tried to start his own steel bike manufacturing workshop, but then aluminum alloy and carbon frames became fashionable and he had to quit. Today he lives a few miles from the seller’s hometown in Rosenheim, but he never managed to catch up to find out more on the man and the frame. The seller I got the bike from in Munich bought the black powder coated frame with a silly set-up from a vintage steelbike restorer called "Eisenherz" (Iron heart) in Düsseldorf. You will still find their tonal black-on-black stickers on the downtube. As there are no WENZ decals available, the seller never pulled them off. After storing the frame for another 5 years, he started the building project in 2010 step-by-step trying to place only parts that looked natural, reduced, clean, honest (whatever one would calls it) always having the overall picture in mind and not taking to much care about a period correct set-up, for example, he bought an SR headset and Chorus callipers but found both to bold and removed them again - the brakes for even lower-ranking Athena´s - but they are the perfect fit). The bike was finished being built in the summer 2018. See the pic I am not a bike expert or a vintage bike expert, so I hope I got the specs correct for the bike. If you’re looking for a unique, fast sprinter with campy parts all over, and less concerned about date specific and accurate specs, then this may be the best bike for you! I like to ride and am less concerned about vintage specifics on this very cool and unique bike.
