Description: Unusual Antique Large Stippled Pottery Elongated Dummy Egg, Laying or Display Click images to enlarge Description ANTIQUE/VINTAGE EGG Interesting and unusual antique/vintage molded hollow pottery (I think) oblong shape egg measuring about 5" in length. Featuring a stippled exterior, color is a muted yellow with toning - nipple end has a hint of a dark spot - almost looks metallic underneath the paint. Haven't a clue as to original purpose - I was told it was designed as a laying egg, to be placed within a nest to spur production - but what type of bird would lay an egg like this - something large like an emu? Anyway, you be the judge - think it visually interesting with folk art appeal - I've had it for about 66 years, so I know it is at least that old. Condition is very nice with minor fine wear to the exterior. Fun addition to any collection or display! If questions, please contact me - thanks! Images sell!
