Description: #230954 This offering is for a replica of a United States Army Officer Artillery Sword and scabbard. The Artillery Sword is commonly referred to as a “Short Sword” due to its 22” overall length compared to the 39” sword carried by Cavalry Officers. The sword design, which was introduced to the U.S Army in 1832, came from the French Artillery sword model that was based on the Roman Gladius, the standard sword of the Roman legionaries. The sword replica offered here is ornately detailed to match the design of the Civil War period. The handle is leather wrapped and the letters “US” are centered in the hand guard brass work. Also, the front of the blade features “US” in the center and “Pluribus Unum” is stamped on the back. Scrollwork on the blade is very detailed and typical of the period. Two belt rings on the scabbard make it perfect for reenactments or a hanging display. PLEASE READ IMPORTANT INFORMATION Shipping Policy: I ship this item within the U.S.A only.
