Description: For sale is a wonderful and original watercolor painting by the well known and highly collected UK artist Arthur Herbert Buckland (1870-1927) (some accounts show (1950) Buckland did several of these paintings which are generally entitled "Boy in the Moon, or Peter Pan." This is the only one that we have come across or have seen in our research which shows a lovely painted sky blue background. We believe this makes this painting more exceptional than most of the work similar to this that have come to market. The painting is watercolor pencil and gouache on paper. The detailing is extremely well done. It appears to be in either it's original framing or a framing of some age. There is some toning in the matting. The painting features a lovely young boy in profile against a large imposing moon. Staring intently straight ahead with wispy soft blue windy clouds encircling his profile. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower left of the boy. Condition: Overall good. Toning to matting. surface Watercolor specks to the surface on right(appears original) see pics. Open paper dust jacket on the reverse as seen in pictures. Framed under glass. Measurements:Framed - 15 1/2" x 21 1/2"Sight - 13" x 17" Oval Arthur Herbert Buckland, RBA (b. 1870 fl. 1895-192) He was a painter of romantic landscape subjects, genre, portraits & illutrations. Born in Taunton, he studied art at the Academie Julian in Paris. He exhibited at the RA from 1895-1927 & also at the RI, ROI, RBA & Paris Salon.
