TSU-020 "DRAWERS (PANTALETTES)" Pattern. Your hip measurement should be the factor in deciding size. You will want to make your pantalettes roomy as this allows for overlapping at the crotch and back, which makes them quite draft-free. Pantalettes were worn just below the knee. From the pattern: "This pattern is for drawers or pantalettes, as they were called. This pattern is for a split-crotch but the seam can be closed if you choose. As drawers are worn under everything thing else, the split crotch makes going to the "necessary" a whole lot easier. The pattern includes instructions for pin tucks and lace. a pattern for a hand made lace edging is included. A special feature of the pattern is its' method of sewing pin tucks, which keeps both sides symmetrical. Crisp, clean white underpinnings were a mark of class and station in life. To be historically correct any trims you choose should be 100% cotton. Look for eyelet and flat laces that are not glossy in appearance. Eyelet and ribbon combinations work great. Grosgrain ribbon and self-fabric trims were also very popular.
