Description: For sale here is a lovely Tiffany Studios New York (846) inkwell. It measures about 4" wide and about 2 1/2" tall with the lid closed. It is in the Tiffany grape vine pattern. It has its original glass insert. This inkwell was originally covered with gold gilt. Unfortunately, some of gilt has worn away exposing the silver colored base metal. The loss of the gilt appears to be where the inkwell was handled by humans. (See photos) The good news is that the hinge which connects the lid to the base works fine, it has its original insert, AND the slag glass on the base appears to be undamaged. Other than the wear, there really is no other damage. It is marked on the bottom "Tiffany Studios" "New York" and "846." Please look at the photos as they can better describe this inkwell than I can using words. Even with the wear, it is still a striking piece!!! I have liquidated estates for over 40 years.
