Each volume weights 15 lbs and they measure 15 1/4" x 11 3/4" and 3 1/4" thick. A rich ornate heavily tooled binding with the cover embossed in high relief with gilded "Shakespere" title and pictures. The end sheets are marbleized and the gold edging is still quite bright. The inside is in quite good condition with no water stains, pencil marks, or foxing....very clean. The condition is that one cover is unattached and the other cover is attached but loosed from the spine. They are very repairable. These were much loved and read volumes handed down from one family but very well taken care of. The leather is worn along the edges and a bit crumbly but not terrible. The 60 plus engravings inside are stunning and all have their tissue paper covers. I could not find dates inside but my research says 1880-1885. For publisher it says "NewYork Virtue & Yorston 12 Dey St." Ive described the condition of these volumes as accurately as I can and revealed any and all flaws However, please feel free to ask any questions what so ever.
