Description: Hi! You're looking at an excellent condition book which is a classic study of the Vegetation of the New Jersey Pine Barrens written by JOHN W. HARSHBERGER--the book is a softcover copy. This book is in excellent condition and has a slight vertical crease on the lower center of the front surface, a small, slight cresae on the lower left corner of the front cover, light peeling and a couple of small tears of the lamination on the upper and lower edges of the back cover, a few slight thumb creases on the centers of the covers, a VERY slight forward list of the spine edge, a slight ding on the lower right tip of the front cover and just very light shelfwear and very light evidence of gentle browsing but no other significant flaws! The book is titled The Vegetation of the New Jersey Pine-Barrens: An Ecologic Investigation and it was written by JOHN W. HARSHBERGER; it was published by Dover Publications, Inc. in 1970.The so-called pine barrens of coastal New Jersey are, of course, not barren at all (The designation is early Colonial, referring to a comparatively thin farming soil.) Close investigation shows a remarkable diversity of plant life under varying conditions of plain, swamp, riverbank, season and soil. Especially interesting to naturalists is the ecology of the barrens which, due to geographical isolation, has not changed essentially since Miocene times.
