Description: Experience the world through the eyes of William Beckford with this captivating travel diary. These first edition hardcover books are limited edition of 1000, that comes with a dust jacket and cover box.The books are illustrated by numerous artists, making it a visual treat for readers. Published in 1928 by Constable and Co. Limited and Houghton Mifflin Co., the diary takes readers on a journey through the late 1700s and early 1800s. It contains a compilation of Beckford's travel experiences and is written in English. This original copies are a great addition to any collector's library. This is called a first edition as after original printing they were destroyed in largs for questionable content. The box the books are housed in is less then perfect, alot of wear and some pencil writing on the top with discoloration and foxing. The Dust jackets are torn at the flaps with staining and discoloration. However the two books are in near perfect condition. Bottom and side of pages are blind cut so are uneven and some are uncut. These books are in beautiful condition so I guess the box and dust jackets did a great job. Price written in pencil lightly in corner of page in first volume. All pages are clean and secure to spine. Minimal discoloration from age no foxing or torn pages that I found. Questions are welcome. Please see photo's.
