Description: This is a tray used in the Hotel Pennsylvania in mid-town Manhattan. The hotel was owned by the Pennsylvania Railroad and opened in 1919. It was located across from the New York Penn Station and Madison Square Garden and was the largest hotel in the world at that time. The tray measures 10 1/2 x 6 1/2". The date stamp was impressed into the china is a 78 in a diamond shape and dates to 1918. This was one of the first pieces ordered for the opening. The tray was made by the O.P. CO. Syracuse China. The face is glazed in a warm pale cream color and a white glaze on the back. The gold edging is mostly intact and the surface has no utensil marks.
