Description: "A Newspaper Story by Marshall N. Dana"; hardbound; full of b/w photos and illustrations; very good condition of book; dust jacket has some edge wear and cuts but now protected by clear slipjacket. One minor tear on inside of front page, as shown in photo. description -Fifty Years of the Oregon Journal 1902 - 1952. This is a history of one of Portland's daily newspapers, written by a man who was associated with the paper for more than forty years as reporter, special writer, editorial writer, and editor of the editorial page from 1938 to his retirement on December 31, 1950. In a sense the book is a memorial to Charles Samuel Jackson (generally known as Sam Jackson), who was the real founder of the Oregon Journal, even though the paper had a few months of precarious existence before he took over in July, 1902.
