Born in Ireland, she migrated to England at the age of four, becoming a well-known British writer and contributor to nineteenth-century thought on a range of subjects including early feminism, art history, travel, Shakespeare, poets, and German culture. First published in 1826, this is the first work by the noted Victorian author, Anna Brownell Jameson. At sixteen years of age, Anna became governess in the family of Charles Paulet, Anna accompanied a young pupil to Italy, writing in a fictitious character a narrative of what she saw and did. She gave this diary to a bookseller on condition of receiving a guitar if he secured any profits. Colburn ultimately published it as The Diary of an Ennuyee (1826), which attracted much attention. This edition published in Boston by Ticknor and Fields in 1865 Beatrice Cenci was a young Roman noblewoman who murdered her abusive father, Count Francesco Cenci. The subsequent, lurid murder trial in Rome gave rise to an enduring legend about her. She was condemned and beheaded for the crime in 1599. EXCELLENT CONDITION 3 1/4 by 5 1/4
