Description: Teeny Tiny Gnome Tomes - Excellent 3-Book Set in Slipcase Very Good to Very Fine or better. Printed and bound in Singapore for Intervisual Communications, Inc. and Harry N. Abrams, Inc., in 1981. ISBN: 0810916819 Each of the three books is 2¾" x 3¾" size, and contains 48 pages, including covers. A Gnome Counting Book Gnomes To The Rescue Little Gnome Facts All the text and illustrations are from the original 1977 edition of GNOMES by Rien Poortvliet and Wil Huygen. Condition of the slipcase exterior is VG to VF, the books closer to Excellent, with minor handling and slight age, wear and use, no marks or writing, no creases or tears. A wonderful gift for any Gnome fan or collector, since this set was only produced once in English, over 40 years ago, in the US [by Abrams] and the UK [by Methuen]. Rumors of a 1996 Egmont reprint are unsubstantiated, and if true, would most likely be non-English language. When the original Gnome book [published in Dutch in 1976] came out the following year in English, it was a modern sensation. Never had the publishing industry had such a fantastic hit in a coffee-table book. The thing was gigantic, and very heavy, and it was easy to damage the dust jacket usless it was removed prior to the book's being read. Every hippie girl and Earth mother had to own one, and very few weed-smoking homes did not have a copy on prominent display. So this idea of going the opposite direction [or into the Gnome world direction] by being tiny was also a fantastic sales approach.
