Tape Lace Handmade Linen Table Cloth from Bishop's Estate LARGE 8 X 5.3' Vintage

Description: Here is a beautiful handmade tablecloth of fine linen made with TAPE LACE designs and enhanced with embroidered touches, vintage 1960s in age. This piece came from a Canadian Catholic Bishop's estate, and subsequently donated to a religious community in my area, proceeds from the sale going towards support of their missionary activities. It was used by the bishop for special occasions when entertaining dignitaries and for other special functions, and is still in very fine condition- a real work of art in this specific variety of lace making, with lovely scalloped edges and an unusual rounded design on the center. This is LARGER SIZE: 64 by 96 inches (5.3 by 8 feet), probably made by a member of the bishop's diocese upon his achieving the Episcopal rank. The tape lace effect was also used in the lace for the bishop's alb and surplice, probably made by the same person, as may be seen in photo # 10. These garments have already been sold- but there is no specific religious symbolism on the tablecloth, which is here offered for sale- just the intricate patterns, including cut work embroidery in floral designs in certain areas- see photo #9 for an example of this. It is a fine product of the Tape Lace technique- in quite fine condition, with no stains, tears or any other imperfections of note.
