In terms of line thickness, the order from thickest to thinnest is G-Pen, Saji Pen, Nihonji Pen, School Pen, and Maru Pen. Some artists prefer to use just one type of pen for all their work, while others use both G-Pen and Maru Pen to create contrast in their lines. How to Maintain Your Pen Nibs To clean the nib, first, wipe off any ink with a tissue or a soft cloth. It’s not necessary to remove all the ink at this point. Next, prepare a container of water and dip the nib to wash off any remaining ink. Instead of scrubbing or shaking the nib, gently submerge it in the water to allow the ink to loosen. The goal is to let the water flow through the nib's grooves for a thorough cleaning. Once cleaned, dry the nib thoroughly with a cloth. Any remaining moisture can cause rust. If you suspect that all moisture hasn't been removed (due to weather or humidity), clean the nib with a solvent such as thinner, making sure to work in a well-ventilated area. After cleaning, store the nib with rust-preventive paper, the brown paper that comes with the nib. Keeping the nib in a dry place with oil-treated paper will further prevent rust.
