Lead came surround with a hanging chain to display it. It contains what would look like a hand-painted scene on one side, but I think it is a somehow printed or transferred image. This is much more durable than a painted image. It has a 3D look to it under whatever protected coating is laid over the image. I cannot tell with any certainty how the image was placed on the glass. It is transparent though. It is durable. No defects in the finish whatsoever. It is the image of a lighthouse, and a large cottage behind it. trees, rocks, and a crashing surf spray, with the ocean in the background, and a heavily overcast sky that suggests a moon-lit sky behind heavy clouds. I love the look myself! Like a chilly late-summer night! The unique thing about this is, and you can see this very clearly in the 2 pictures above, the image looks completely different with light shining through it, than when you just look at the image on a table or in your hands! The image looks best if the view is taken with the satin finish towards you, (the actual side the image is affixed to) which is actually how it is intended to be viewed, I believe, since the chain is on the other side. The shiny glass side somehow doesn't look as nice, backlit or in the dark. It is probably vintage. Lead is soft, so the surround has an aged look, with tiny scratches and miniscule nicks. Just handling wear. This piece is really lovely! I love sun-catchers anyway, I bought this through my own tastes, and I hope I am right, that you'd love it too!! Mike
