Description: I'm pleased to offer this striking and excellent Bindheimite specimen from the Wamsley mine, Luning, Mineral County, Nevada. The specimen measures 2.90 x 2.21 x 1.66 inches or 7.36 x 5.60 x 4.21cm and weighs 9.5 ounces or 269 grams. This is an old piece from the Erwin Goetz collection and is accompanied by his old label. I'll have to add a photo of the label later as I temporarily misplaced it while working on a ton of new material in my mineral room--it is in here I promise! Label photos added 10-20-24. I haven't been able to learn much about Goetz except that he was apparently an important figure at some point in the Superior, Arizona area. I know that Eugene Schlepp of Western Minerals (Tucson, AZ) and John Mediz of Copper City Rock Shop (Globe, AZ) handled some of his specimens. I used italics for bindheimite as the previously accepted mineral has been determined to be questionable as a valid specie and may be something related to oxyplumboromeite--a lead antimony oxide mineral. In any case, the material is poorly characterized and described but I do believe that it has been grandfathered in as a specie but there is considerable doubt about its validity. Too confusing for me! In any case, I don't often get such specimens and this represents perhaps the fifth specimen I've ever had of this unusual material and is the most attractive. The mineral forms in the oxidation zones of antimony-bearing lead deposits (mindat.org). The Wamsley mine was sporadically worked via two shafts for silver and the bindheimite from the mine is argentiferous or silver-bearing. This is an excellent specimen and I'll likely never find another. And, I promise that I will find the label in the next day or two! You have my word and I will add a photo. Please check my feedback and my other eBay items. All specimens are carefully wrapped, come with complete and accurate labels and are quickly shipped. As always, your complete satisfaction is unconditionally guaranteed and I even offer FREE return shipping on any item that fails to satisfy for any reason---you can't go wrong. I'm reminded of the firm pledge printed on the old Foote Mineral Company mineral catalogs from more than a century ago, "Quality of specimens is assured as we permit return of specimens at our expense." Thanks for looking! I buy collections! Please contact me if you have a collection for sale or know of one that is available. I will pay a finder's fee to anyone that can point me to an eventual purchase!
