STANLEY No.5 SMOOTH SOLE PLANE TYPE 16 1933

Description: RESTORED & TUNED STANLEY No.5 TYPE 16 SMOOTH SOLE PLANE 1933 - 1941 14" long , 2-3/8 wide , cutter 2" wide The type 16 is the first year for the new frog design / the kidney style lever cap and the raised ridge on the heal & toe. Type 16 has the straight rail under the frog if you have a type 16 with a Y shaped rail under the frog you have a type 19. The type 16 and type 15 are the most wrongly type planes on ebay. The body and frog were refinished. I use a superb finish which I apply several coats to come up with a very thick finish which is then baked on. All the hardware was cleaned and oiled. The Tote & knob are very nice. Both were cleaned then waxed several times to get a very smooth natural finish. I had to repair the tote its very solid and looks great. I stand behind my repair 100 percent. Sole was lapped. All lapping is done by hand on a granite slab. Cheeks were lapped and the rail's were cleaned and smoothed out. Frog face & seats lapped. Cap iron was cleaned and lapped. The Cutter was lapped and sharpened. Its extremely sharp and cuts superb shavings leaving a very smooth finish on the wood surface. The Lever cap was cleaned then lapped at its contact point.This is a superb working plane that will be a asset to any work shop or collection.
