Description: A Stanley Bailey No 4 1/2 plane, made in the USA. This is the wide smoother with a 2 3/8" Cutter. It's a type 10, made 1907-1909, as indicated by the two patent dates behind the frog, and the presence of the frog adjusting screw. This is the first Stanley type to have the frog adjusting screw at the rear. The whole plane has been cleaned including small parts. All parts are intact. The cutter it came with is a Sweetheart vintage however it is short and slightly narrower than it should be (could be from an early 5 1/2). However I have included an extra cutter, Stanley USA, from then 1930s. It will need sharpening. The japanning was patchy and some of the body exposed. I gave the body a coat of rust inhibitor (cures black) and finished with shellac and wax to protect it from further corrosion. I'm happy to combine postage costs where I can. Thank you for looking.
