Description: Russian Orthodox lacquered wood egg featuring what appears to be St. Demetrius (Dmitrievsky) Cathedral in Vladimir, Russia on the front and a Russian Orthodox cross on the back. The picture of St. Demetrius Cathedral might be a decoupaged print, but it could also be hand-painted; it’s difficult to tell. The Russian Orthodox cross appears to be hand-painted. The lacquered wood egg is approximately 2 1/2” high without the stand and 3 3/4” high with the stand. It is approximately 2” wide. The age of the lacquered wood egg is unknown. Estate sale find. A beautiful example of Russian Orthodox art! The lacquered wood egg appears to be in good used condition with signs of wear and age, such as scratches, scrapes, abrasions, nicks, chips, indentations, spots, stray marks, rub marks, and cracks and/or wrinkles in the decoupaged print or painted and lacquered picture.
