KLH Model Fifteen acoustic suspension speaker set, fully restored and very, very nice looking and sounding. Matching, unstained grills, excellent walnut veneer, 9.5/10. This is the second generation M15, with a removable back and heavy, solid construction. Earlier versions did not have a back plate, later versions have the back plate but the cabinet construction took a significant nosedive. These are bookshelf speakers measuring about 14" x 8" x 8". They feature two of KLH's legendary 3.5" drivers and are one of the few KLH speakers that are ported. Originally paired with the KLH Model Fifteen turntable system, they were introduced in the early to mid 1960s. As with many 'HiFi' systems of this era, these speakers were designed and with classical music and vocalists in mind, but they perform well with music from any era. This set has been fully disassembled, rebuilt, and reassembled. The drivers were removed and the surrounds were resealed as per the KLH service documents, and with the proper sealer for cloth surrounds available from Vintage AR on ebay. New seals were installed between the speakers and cabinet as well. New foam seals were placed on the face and back plate of the cabinet prior to re-assembly, replacing the disintegrated original material. There is no crossover network in the Model Fifteen. The walnut veneer cabinets have been sanded to remove the dull old finish. Several coats of Tung oil finish were applied to bring out the grain of the wood, followed by a coat of Howard's Feed N Wax for protection. They are darn near perfect, with just minor, hard to see imperfections. The grills are mint as mentioned, and nicely matched. Please feel free to contact with any questions.
