Description: Original Span-Am War Era US Army Enlisted Model 1889 Tan Sun or Pith Helmet - Infantry - NICE Condition - RARE Up for sale is an Original Span-Am War Era US Army Enlisted M1889 Tan Sun or Pith Helmet. The M1889 helmet has the light cotton canvas outer covering. It has the Vent Cover over the spike socket. There are No rips or tears in the outer covering, see photos. Some soiling & discoloration spots on the outer covering. It does not have the chin strap. There is damage to the internal cork material on the top/front of the helmet, see photos. It displays well with some bubble wrap in the crown of the hat, see photos. The green interior lining has some color fading and discoloration, no tears, see photos. Still has the original leather sweat band, see photos. It has no manufacturer markings or dates. It size is estimated at 7 1/8. Please see photos for condition. It is RARE to find a M1889 Sun Helmet from this time period in this condition. The only difference between the M1887 and M1889 is the color of the outer covering.
