Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Soviet Medal in Commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of Victory over Germany, with Award Certificate issued on 8 May 1945 to Yelena Zhmydyk. Both the award and document are GUARANTEED 100% ORIGINAL, officially issued by the Soviet Government – not replicas. The medallion of the medal is made in brass, 32 mm wide. Features a triumphant Soviet WW2 male soldier flanked by a female soldier and older-age industrial worker. The reverse has inscription “To a War Participant, In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, 1941-1945”. As obvious from the inscription, this version of the medal was awarded exclusively to WW2 combatants (there is a different version for participants of the labor front.) The medal is in GREAT condition. There is no visible wear to the raised details which remain perfectly defined and crisp. The finish is bright and free of tarnish, blemishes or oxidation spots. The medal comes on original suspension with a very well-preserved old ribbon. The award document shows an image of the medal in color on the first internal page. On the opposite page is the full name of the recipient: Yelena Kupriyanovna Zhmydyk. There are two blue ink stamps of a local district military commissariat in the city of Kiev which means that Zmydyk lived in Kiev at the time when the award was issued to her. The document is in very good condition, still sound, crisp and presentable. It shows only mild wear and light age toning but no stains, tears or soiling.
