Description: Soviet Russian USSR Order of the Red Star with serial number in the 1-1.5 million range, awarded in 1945 for 15 years of long service in the NKVD to a Jewish Major of the NKVD! The recipient joined the OGPU in 1926 in Ukraine, serving as an investigator and later rising to senior investigator and chief of the investigational department. In August 1944 he was transferred to Latvia, which was not yet fully re-captured by the Red Army. He served in Latvia thru the end of his career in 1951. During this period, the NKVD was engaged in a tenacious fight with Latvian nationalist partisans, numbering approximately 15000 men. The recipient of this Red Star was certainly engaged in these brutal operations. The recipient’s complete Service Record from the Ministry of Defense archives is included! He was also awarded an Order of the Red Banner, Combat Service Medal, and Victory over Germany medal. In the archival portrait, he can be seen wearing ribbon bars for the above awards. The research supporting the identification of the recipient by award serial number is a redacted excerpt of an archival document (apparently from a “closed” archive) that provides the following information:1) a list of award recipients, the names and serial numbers of the awards presented, and the serial numbers of the accompanying order/medal booklets2) the date of awarding3) the awarding authority – both the body that authorized the award and the government official empowered to physically present the awards To reiterate – the archival document is excerpted (i.e. snippets of pages from a multi-page file) and redacted (award serial numbers for other recipients have been blurred out). That is what I received with the awards, and that is what I am passing on. Professional English translation available if requested before receipt of item. Condition is outstanding, as seen in the images! The serial number of the award is authentic and matches the serial number shown in the archival documents, obviously! If you require confirmation in advance, please send me a message, and I will gladly provide images. Over time, I have found that redacting award serial numbers in certain listings (particularly of researched awards) has acted a simple and effective filter to sort good customers from troublesome eBay hooligans. Reasonable, rational collectors who are genuinely interested in the history represented by an award will make the effort to reach out and will quickly find that everything is in order. No returns. All questions in advance. I will answer all coherent, respectful inquiries to the best of my ability. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING AVAILABLE only through eBay’s Global Shipping Program (GSP). With this program: once the item is delivered to the address to which eBay directs me to ship, all responsibility for final safe delivery of the item to the buyer becomes eBay’s.
