Description: This book titled Six Plays of Clifford Odets was published by Grove Press, Inc in 1979. It is a Book Club Edition. I used to belong to the Fireside Theatre Book Club which issued full texts of plays in book form. This is one such book. The book is hardcover with dust jacket. It is quarter-bound in tan with blue boards. Title and publisher are on the spine in blue. These are Odets' first six plays including Waiting for Lefty and Golden Boy. I addition to writing plays, Odets wrote screenplays for his own plays, as well as original screenplays. He was also an uncredited "fixer" and "supplementer" of other screenplays. His plays that were made into movies include Clash by Night with Barbara Stanwyck, Paul Douglas, Robert Ryan, and Marilyn Monroe, directed by Fritz Lang, Golden Boy with Barbara Stanwyck, William Holden, and Lee J. Cobb, directed by Rouben Mamoulian, Sweet Smell of Success, a noir film with Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis, and The Country Girl with William Holden, Bing Crosby, and Grace Kelly. He wrote from 1935 to 1961. The book has no bookplate or other mark of ownership. It is not ex-library, not remaindered, and not clipped. There is no price on the front flap. The book has no tears, stains, or corner bumps. The book spine has wrinkling on the top and bottom. See Photos. Also the spine bottom has a bulge. See Photos. The book edges have some "dimples".
