Six BEATLE MANIA Cash-in LP's -- Chet Atkins, BAROQUE BEATLES, Buggs, SCHOOLBOYS

Description: This lot contains six 12-inch 33 rpm albums from the mid-sixties "Beatlemania" era, all by artists trying to imitate or parody the Beatles or otherwise cash in on their fame and popularity. The records aren't all in great condition, and there are some missing and mis-matched covers, so please listen carefully as I go through them in the order shown in the second through thirteenth pictures: Elektra # EKL-306 - "The Baroque Beatles Book" by the Baroque Ensemble of the Merseyside Kammermusikgesellschaft, conducted by Joshua Rifkin. Mono, undated, with insert. Cover in excellent condition. RCA Victor # LPM-3531 - "Chet Atkins Picks on the Beatles" by Chet Atkins. Mono, dated 1966. Cover also in excellent condition, and still in shrinkwrap, but with plastic name tag adhered to the front. Coronet # CXS-212 - "The Beetle Beat" by the Buggs. Stereo, undated. Cover is totally split at the top and bottom seams and scuffed around the edges. Coronet # CX-212 - "The Beetle Beat" by the Buggs. Mono, undated. No cover. Palace # M-777 - "Beatle Mash" by the Schoolboys. Mono, undated. The cover is for a different album, namely Palace # 778 - "Beatle Mania" by the Schoolboys. Diplomat # 2307 - "Beatlerama" by the Manchesters. Mono, undated. No cover. In terms of condition, I seem to have coincidentally arranged the records in descending order. The first two, for instance, are still nice and shiny, with very little significant wear. On my Audio-Technica turntable, they both play through with just typical light background noise and no skips or jumps. The stereo Buggs LP is very playable, but with more surface wear and correspondingly more background crackle and some passages of ticking, and even a couple of forward skips on the track "She Loves You." The mono Buggs also plays through nicely, but with more background crackle, and two or three forward skips on each side. And the other two are in much rougher and more heavily played and abused condition. I haven't played them all the way through, but I've played enough of each one to be able to tell you to expect some significance background noise, some clicks and pops and passages of ticking, and multiple skips and jumps. The Manchesters LP looks like it might have suffered mild heat damage and it is almost unplayable in terms of the number of needle jumps. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well they will play on your equipment.
