Description: This fly is a must-have for euro nymphing. This is a Lance Egan version of the popular Pat's Rubber leg. It's tied on a size 10 Daiichi 1730 or Umqua U106 curved-shanked hook with a 3.8 mm tungsten bead. This is a ligher version of my heavier 4.5 mm version for skinnier waters. As a result, the fly inverts like a jig hook during the drift resulting in better hook set. It's a killer fly that often works as a heavy "anchor" in a two-nymph euro rig or by itself. Stoneflies have a 3-4 year lifecyle, which means that a nymphal form of this common bug is always present in a river system wherever stoneflies are found. That means you can fish this year around and catch fish. In summer time, drifting it in faster waters will get an immediate strike. In winter, the fish will target them in slower water. This has produced a lot of fish for me over the years. Please note that the color of the rubber leg will vary depending on how the manufacturer produces them. Sometimes, they are darker and other times lighter. No matter the color, the fly is super effective.
