You are bidding on a vintage Singer sewing machine, model 201. The serial number indicates it was manufactured in late 1948, probably between October and December. Please note that I know essentially nothing about these machines except what I found on the interweb in preparing to sell it. All you see in the photos is included. The accessories in the box are:Singer 86642 Ruffler Singer 160359 Multi Slotted Binder Singer 36865 Edge Stitcher Singer 35931 Adjustable Hemmer Singer Simanco 120855 5/64 Narrow Hemmer Singer Simanco 121441 Shirring/Gathering Foot Excellent condition. I purchased this machine with the intent of learning to use it in my craft restoration projects. Instead, it sat for 2 years as I hemmed and hawed (pun intended). I am selling it so you can have a nice vintage machine that no longer takes up space on my shelf. It runs/works/spins as it is supposed to. When I unboxed it the action was bound up. I oiled (Tri-Flo) every spot indicated in the manual and let it sit for an hour. Poof. It works. I rotated in both directions by hand and it very quickly loosened up and now runs freely. The motor works and seems to run the machine properly. The foot pedal allows for variable speed. The machine has a very slight squeak when running. The light works. Everything that is supposed to turn or go up and down turns or goes up and down. From a cosmetic standpoint the machine is very nice. The paint is about 99% intact with a few small edge chips and dings. The lettering and flourishes are all intact and look nice. The cover plates are shiny with no blems. At some point the machine was dropped in the case. This caused some interior tears in the cover (see last photo) and bent the spool pin on the top. I replaced the pin with new. Also, one of the hinges broke, which I replaced with a used Singer part sourced online. The case itself has a couple spots where the vinyl cracked. I repaired these with 3M Super 77 adhesive. I used the same to partially repair the tears in the liner of the cover. They remain visible but not obvious. The base cracked near the front hinge. I repaired it with professional wood glue clamped to restore the original fit and shape. The hinge nail holes were filled with plastic wood and the hinges were reinstalled with NON-ORIGINAL screws. The inner lining on the base is missing leaving exposed wood. The entire unit has a slight teeter because the feet on the bottom are old, weird and one has detached. The loose foot is in the accessory box. I did not want to start pulling the tacks out of the case. The best possible solution is probably to replace all the feet with new.
