Description: Beautiful Signed/numbered Framed Ethching by French Artist Bernard Gantner 32/260. 16"X31" with frame. W/O frame ( 12" x 26") The etching appears to be in excellent condition, the frame has a few dings consistent with age but still makes a beautiful frame. Bernard Gantner (1928-2018) was a 20th-century French landscape painter. His work is appreciated for its poetic and airy approach, following and updating the tradition of earlier French master painters likeJean-Baptiste Camille Corot,Gustave Courbet, andClaude Monet. Gantners oeuvre primarily depict the regions of Vosges and Franche-Comt, and are largely made in the studio derived from charcoal sketches the artist makes from observation anden plein air. Born on August 18, 1928 in Belfort, France, he was taught about nature from a young age by his grandfather, who also cultivated Gantners drawing ability. He went on to study at the cole des Beaux-Arts in Paris before moving back to Belfort to pursue his career. Today, Gantners work can be found in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
