Description: Sixth plate size daguerreotype, housed in a split leatherette case, with mat, preserver, and cover glass. Hallmark is an “HB eagle 40” which puts it between 1850 and 1858. Subjects are a man and woman, both stiff as a board. He wears a typical 1850’s suit, her, a pleated front wool dress, with an unusual collar style for that period. Inscription on the back of the plate writes, something, something, “Hall” My best efforts couldn’t fully determine what all the letters were, but my best guess is “Gramma + Grampa Hall” Purchased in Missouri.
