Description: Vintage print of the Claremont (circa 1855) in an antique distressed ornate gold frame. Dimensions: 23”w x 21”h x 3” The print is a lithograph from a publication (c.1950), the frame appears to be late 19th Century or early 20th Century. Lots of plaster/gesso missing from the frame, but the imperfections just add to the charm of this Antique Shabby Chic folk art piece. It definitely has a certain "je ne sais quoi" to it. (The original art is an oil on canvas on display in the Metropolitan Museum of Art by an unknown artist and is titled "The Claremont" circa 1855, the litho is a reproduction of that piece). The Claremont was originally the home of the Post family in Manhattanville, NY, but later became the famous Claremont Inn.
