Description: Antique box set filled with real chips from actual casino play. The Ceramic composite they are made from was designed to last, and despite being used in casino play, and by me for over 10 years, they show virtually no major wear and no damage. Box is from the middle to late 1800s, and is made from Burl wood, species is hard to determine when it's from the burl, as the patterns are more unusual, but I would guess it is Walnut. Top of the box has a brass plaque, but no name or monogram was ever engraved. The internal handle is very strong and could most likely carry ten times the intended weight. Overbuilt and very high quality. There is no key, but the lock does work, it takes a skeleton key, so with a little trial and error you can find a replacement without to much work. I personally never thought it necessary to lock it, so never tracked one down, but I have for other things. Set includes 288 chips in denominations $1 and $5. I used these when I would play heads up matches or mini heads up tournaments with plenty of chips left over--even if we played ultra deep stack. 99% sure they were made by Chipco, but I can't say for sure. Castle Casino changed names and is now Great American Casino; still in operation in Everett, WA.
