Description: 2 Vintage ROSENTHAL Selb Germany 4 fl. oz. Footed Demitasse / Espresso Designer Cups by Raymond Loewy Both item are marked with the Rosenthal Selb-Germany crown mark and "V" below it. This mark was used by Rosenthal in the 1940s. Raymond Loewy was hired by Rosenthal in the late 1940s. He is famous i. e. for his design of the hourglass Coke bottle, the Lucky Strike cigarette package, the Greyhound bus logo, the logo for the U. S. Postal Service and the interior of NASA's Skylab. Classic Modern White (aka shape 2000 line) was introduced by him and the special cone (funnel) design which the cups show here. We offer here elegant white footed porcelain cups with a simple and modern design of leaves on both sides. One side displays two leaves in light orange and white, the opposite side shows one leaf in light orange. Very special mid-century modern design! The cups are perfect for a small cup of tea or espresso. The set is in excellent condition. No chips, no cracks, no crazing. One cup has a black "sandcorn" below the glaze which seems to be production related. Please check our pictures as they are part of the description.
