And (besides having the best selection of two-for-a-penny candy in town), Hoffman also stocked the complete set of Golden Nature Guides, which provided all the temptations young "egghead" students like myself could ever desire (the term "nerd" came a few years later). So, whenever I chance upon some of the earlier editions of the Golden Nature Guides, I gobble them up voraciously -- just as I wish I were able to as a young boy, over 60 years ago. . ..
