Description: Antique German SCHAFER VATER Bisque Miniature Figurines. Set of 11 Googly-Eye Boys/Girls with a Dutch theme that I have read is based on the Little Hollanders, a postcard series by Raphael Tuck & Sons. They are petite - 1 3/4”. Each is holding (or supposed to be holding) a flower. It seems like a courting ritual. Not sure if these are supposed to serve any other purpose (i.e. hold incense stick or as part of a table setting). They are hand-painted, bisque porcelain. Some of the expressions are very funny. As a set, they present well. Conditionally, most of the flowers seem very fragile and one is missing his flower altogether. There is a flea bite in the hat of the same boy without the flower (arrows are placed in the photo). There is also one girl whose black “shoe” has a chip in it…and I suspect a previous owner tried to touch it up as the painting is a little less clean than typically seen (the chip is also shown in photo). Otherwise, these are in very good, vintage condition. Happy to send more photos if you would like.
